Claw Bar in Naples

Perfect for Sue and Zola’s last night in Naples.

We enjoyed a round of perfectly made cocktails at the outdoor bar before we sat for dinner. Nice ambiance and very pleasant bartenders. It’s amazing how much I have missed having a professional make my cocktails for me. I’m no slouch at mixing drinks, but I’ll never pass as a pro. Also, they tend to have a variety of each spirit whereas I have one or two choices of each.

We were seated on the upstairs balcony, a lovely spot. Our servers were always attentive and well informed about all the dishes. The wine list included several reasonably priced wines with good value. We. chose a crisp Pouilly Fuisse for $45.

We each had an appetizer and an entree:

Scallops on the half shell were a rare treat.
The fried oysters were perfectly prepared, not greasy.
Baked oysters Akiatore were a nice update of Oysters Rockefeller.
Lobster and Lump Crab Potholes were presented in an escargot plate.

Barb had Pan Seared Salmon with cauliflower risotto and asparagus.

Sue had the Honey Glazed Sea Bass, pistachio encrusted with roasted mushrooms, sea beans, bok choy and dashi broth.

Zola and I both had the St Augustine Stew: fish, crab, shrimp, mussels, lobster and pork belly in a mildly spicy Datil pepper broth.

Some serious yum!
We also share this cornbread with honey butter for $8. Well worth it.

No room for dessert. Another great place to enjoy in Naples. We’ll return to Claw Bar often. They also have a lounge with jazz that you can eat in or just chill. I’m not sure of the details concerning cover or minimums.
