We went out with our friends Bob and Annette the other night after they enjoyed a day at the beach. We decided on sushi. For us there is only one place to go on Marco Island for sushi: Thai Sushi by K.J. The fish is always amazingly fresh and very nicely presented. Their Thai food is also excellent. I love their Duck in Green Curry. Our friends have raved about their Pad Thai. But for me, it’s about the sushi. I’ve yet to find a place, even in Naples, that comes close to this place.
Barb gets the Summer Roll every time we go there. If they have Uni, it’s always very fresh and sweet. This trip they were out of Uni, which tells me they don’t overbuy and keep fish too long. Scallops, which are hard to find on Sunday nights when sushi places run out of the more exotic choices, were luckily in stock and great on this visit.
Thai Sushi is very popular and can get crazy busy in season. The manager/partner is honest when you call for a reservation as well as when you show up. She does her best to please the customers, even when they are swamped. Their take out business is thriving, which compromises the speed of service. Accepting this is important, so keep it in mind when you book busy times. It’s best to go early or late.
Also, they have a very reasonable $12 corkage, which I very much appreciate.

I also had a gorgeous sashimi platter with Escolar, Salmon, Yellowtail and Scallops. Of course I forgot to photograph them.
When I grow up, I’ll always remember.
