Le Onde Ristorante in Elkins Park

My nephew, Jesse, called me last week to tell me he found a restaurant that I would love. Being, at all times, on the lookout for new places to chow down well, I thanked him and booked a table.
I called my Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Abby who are often available for last minute plans. Luckily they were able to join us in our culinary exploration.

Dear friends for over 50 years! They put up with all my shtick.
I started with Grilled Octopus. Quite tender and accompanied by excellent sauce and greens.

Uncle Ronnie had a Caesar Salad which was tastefully dressed and , like all the salads, a generous portion.
Barb, an Arugula fan, had guess what. Included several additions and she really liked it.
Abby (not really my aunt) had Radichio and Mela Salad with Apple and pine nuts and a nice dressing.
Though it wasn’t on the menu, I asked if the chef could make me a Cacio e Pepe dish. I knew he had Romano cheese and Fettuccini and fresh pepper. He kindly accommodated my request and I was very happy to have the BEST Cacio e Pepe I’ve had in several years.
Barb and Ronnie both had the Grilled Dorado fish, one of the two fish specials. Served with veggies and both were eagerly consumed.
Abby enjoyed the Melanzane Napoleone which I tried and found quite tasty. It came with a side of Penne with a nice tomato sauce.

The people who had fish and seafood got a bowl of water with lemon to clean their hands. They gave you a little bag that looked like a sugar cube. When opened and dropped in the water, it blossomed into a cute hand towel. A very nice touch. (I wonder how they’d package a bath towel.)
We all shared one of their homemade desserts. We had a very moist cake with a strawberry topping and fresh blackberries and blueberries. Quite delicious.

We brought a J Pinot Noir and a disappointing Italian red. The Italian red was our only disappointment of the evening. The whole experience was truly enjoyable and I thank my nephew Jesse for scouting out and turning us onto this very pleasant, casual, and delicious restaurant.
