House of Pho Southampton, PA

Sunday night and Barb and I didn’t feel like getting dressed up. Also wanted to eat healthy. Wanted to BYOB. Didn’t want to spend a lot. Didn’t want hoagies or pizza. Didn’t want to cook. And, as always, wanted delicious. This called for a good local Vietnamese place.

House of Pho has opened a second store with takeout goodies like Bahn Mi. My nephew brought me half a Bahn Mi the other day. Even though it was vegetarian with tofu, it was still tasty as hell.

Tonight we went to the sit down restaurant and enjoyed a lovely dinner out with a nice Petite Sirah to accompany the spice.

I started with a Scallion Pancake which was thinner than most Korean pancakes and equally tasty.
Barb’s app was a Vegetarian Spring Roll which is usually called a Summer Roll at most Vietnamese places.
Barb’s entree was Vietnamese Lettuce Wraps which you prepare yourself with lettuce and bean sprouts and herbs.
My entree was called Bun Bo Hue, a spicy soup with Brisket, Mystery Meat Pate, tons of herbs, noodles and Bean Sprouts. It was spiced to your specification or request. The waitress told me I got a number 2 degree of spiciness. I guess tomorrow I’ll feel it with my number 2.
(Sorry, I couldn’t resist that comment.)

House of Pho is a wonderful place to chill, chow down, enjoy your wife, date, partner, or an entire group of friends. Couldn’t be more fun or fulfilling. Our check, before tip was $47 and we could have eaten cheaper had I not chosen to explore the menu.
A big thumbs up for this excellent restaurant.
