Agricola Eatery in Princeton, NJ

We are starting to explore Princeton, NJ, our new stomping grounds. So far not a great shopping town for Barb, but lots of dining options. We need to explore our byob choices. Being a college town, there’s lots of great ethnic cuisine and more affordable restaurants.

We started with tasty cocktails at the bar. Barb had a new Vodka cocktail and I had a Manhattan with Willetts Rye, a special whisky which made a truly superior cocktail.

The bar is very ”clubby” looking. The bartenders were very nice and made good drinks. We will definitely return for drinks and to enjoy some flatbreads which were featured on the menu.

i started my meal with a wild mushroom pate. It came with a tasty sherry gelee, pickled onions, gerkins and great hearty bread.
Barb passed on the apps, but ordered the side dish of Brussel Sprouts with home made bacon. Tasty and filling.
Barb ordered the Local Snapper with Mussels. It was accompanied by swiss chard, crimini mushrooms and wild rice. Very fresh and perfectly prepared.
My Venison Osso Bucco was tender and very tasty. The charred carrots and polenta were excellent accompaniments.

They had some nice choices on the dessert menu. We simply ran out of space.
The wine list has plenty of good choices at affordable prices. We chose this very reasonable, crisp white wine ($42).

The servers at Agricole were all very pleasant and kept a close eye on their tables. The meal was served at a leisurely pace and the dining room was kept uncrowded. They have outside seating, but didn’t use it because they still are a bit shorthanded on staff, a wise decision.
