Positive Vybz Island Grill, a Caribbean Restaurant in Princeton, NJ

Last night I had a hankering for Caribbean food. I haven’t had any oxtail or goat curry in forever. We noticed this small spot this week while searching for clothing stores for Barb. Struck out on shopping spots. Jackpot on little restaurants.

This is about half a salad. I forgot the photograph at the time of delivery. They had what looked like a Caribbean vinaigrette which was very nice.
This dish of Oxtail was as good as any I’ve had in the Caribbean. Gravy was rich and perfectly seasoned. Just what the doctor ordered!
Entrees were served with steamed veggies and deliciously sweet plantains. They also included rice which I traded out for the world’s most perfect food:

Mac and Cheese!!!! And this one was awesome. Among the best of my life. Up there with my old friend Jane’s. That’s sayin’ a lot!
Barb ordered and loved the Curried Shrimp which came with rice, plantains and steamed veggies.
She switched out her rice for even MORE veggies. That’s my Barb.
This Cab Franc was a recent acquisition from my favorite new source: Trader Joe’s. This bad boy cost a whopping $7. Nice upfront fruit, bits of cherry and butter. No big deal tannins, but they weren’t necessary. About 14 1/2 %. Not at all “hot”.
This is the chef. I believe he said his name was Cliff. A true talent and a very nice man. I intend to visit him soon because I’m still craving some Curried Goat. And of course I’ll be needing another fix of his world class Mac and Cheese.

This is a place not to be missed. On Saturday nights they have a DJ playing Reggae music. Prices were very reasonable. No excuses!
