The night before Sol and Carin returned to New Jersey we decided to have dinner at Verdi’s on Marco Island. We ate there several times last year and enjoyed all of our meals. They have comfortable seating outdoors with heaters. They permit me to bring wine for a $20 corkage fee. They also have a nice wine list with bottles and wine by the glass.
The homemade bread is fresh and presented warm. It has a great crust and soft inside. The dipping vinaigrette is a healthy alternative to butter. The Caesar salad is a minor upgrade to the standard house salad which comes with your entree. The standard house salad was a nice combination of fresh greens .The duck entree is basically the lower half of a duck. I love confit and thigh of duck, so I seem to order it almost every time I go to Verdi’s. It’s always crispy, served with a nice fruit sauce and spinach to keep me strong.Sol ordered the rack of lamb. It was served beautifully with big ass aparagus and a nice gravy. Sol felt it wasn’t quite medium rare, I loved it. I took home his leftovers and enjoyed them two days later.Carin had the grouper entree which she really liked. I’m no longer a fan ofGrouper, but the sweet potatoes and broccoli looked good.Barb had the Tripletail Mediterranean style, substituting veggies for whatever starch accompanied it. She was thrilled with her entree.A meal this good deserves a superior wine. I just happened to have this little beauty in my wine rack. It’s a perfect match for duck, lamb, steak, fish and any empty wine glass. If you can find it, buy it!Bread pudding with ice cream and whipped cream. Can you say ”Yowza”?Sol had a nice cup of coffee to end his meal. I have learned over rhe years that I’m a barbarian because I don’t have coffee at the end of my meals.
One might think that we frequent Verdi’s because it’s a very comfortable spot where we can enjoy a meal safely outdoors. And that might have originally been correct. But we have very quickly learned that this restaurant is one of the finest places to dine on Marco Island. The chef presents delicious and attractive dishes on a very consistent basis. The servers are all very nice, knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. It’s an often overlooked star of the restaurant scene on Marco Island.

Thanks to Josh’s review my husband, Jacques and I decided to experience Verdi’s American Bistro. The food was excellent starting with the Wine selection, warm bread, appetizer – melted French cheese over crostini – entrees – Roasted Duck and Sea Bass. We loved Verdi’s along with our dear friends, we are going back next week. Thanks again Josh. 👍👍
