Alexander’s in North Naples

Our friends Ken and Brynna turned us onto Alexander’s two years ago. Ken is hyperaware of my love for duck and byobs. He said they have the best duck dish in Naples. As far as I’m concerned, he is still correct. ( But there are still plenty more places to check out.) This chef has been cooking here for several years and has a sizable and loyal following. I’d classify his cuisine as European or Continental. The staff is always efficient, knowledgeable and informative. I feel that their outdoor courtyard is one of the best spots in town to dine al fresco.

We go on Tuesday nights when they wave any corkage fees. Also, they have a full bar and serve excellent cocktails at reasonable prices.

Alexander’s was a good choice for our last night out in Naples this season. We were joined by Nancy and Dave, our friends from Chicago.

Nancy and Dave. (seen in a previous post as Dave and Nancy)
We all shared the Cape Cod Calamari. Crisp outsides and tender inside. A very nice dipping sauce.
This Jumbo Lump Crab was sautéed and served over a toast crouton. We all enjoyed our taste.

Nancy wanted to have something smaller and lighter. She ordered the Steak and Wedge Salad entree. I thought the portion looked a bit small, but she said it was just right and very tasty.
Dave’s Sauteed Yellowtail Snapper was a sizeable portion with a nice side of fresh veggies. I tasted it and was impressed.
As always, I ordered the Duck Breast rare with some Potatoes au Gratin. It’s the dish that keeps me coming back at least 2 or 3 times a yar.

Barb really enjoyed her Sole Special. The sauce was light and very flavorful.

Dessert? Who had room? We’ve had them there in the past and always enjoyed them.

And did I tell you that they wave corkage on Tuesday night?
