Lynn said: “I’ve been dieing to try Seventh South Craft Food and Drink. Why don’t you check it out and get back to me?”
“No problem.” I said and hung up.
Checking the menu on the website caused me to drool a little bit. So many different items that I crave. Quite different from all the usual steak, potatoes and fish that so abounds in downtown Naples. And not traditional Italian. And nothing that I could even imagine her husband eating. Mike subsists on pizza, burgers and candy bars. So I called her back and said: “Looks great for us. But what will Michael eat?”
“Don’t worry. He always finds something. And he gave me the okay on this place.”
“Okay with me.”
So after cocktails at their house Mike drove us to Seventh South.
Mike started with his usual cocktail: a Coke.
Barb, Lynn and I shared bottle of Champagnois that was quite nice and very reasonably priced at $34.
The meal started with an Amuse Boucheof a tomato-based soup with herbs and possibly puréed artichoke. A delicious tease. The ladies shared a plate of Coal Fired Spanish Octopus. Really tender and tasty. One of my very favorite things to eat which has become quite popular in the last 10 or fifteen years is Pork Belly. This Berkshire pork was crispy, not too fatty and exquisitely prepared. I want some now.A shock to my brain: Mike, the burger, pizza and scrapple connoisseur, ordered Baked Camembert garnished with olives and nut and a subtle sweet sauce. He further shocked me by claiming to like Brie as well. And here I thought he was a straight Velveeta kinda guy.I ordered a glass of Cab to go with my entree. They have different sized pours. This 9 ounce glass was $16 and well worth it because it was from a good bottle. My entree was a very rich and wonderful Ziti Carbonara. I always feel guilty eating Carbonara, but the pleasure I get from this dish outweighs the guilt.Mike (who always finds something) found Tagliatelle and added some Meatballs. I believe he enjoyed it more than his mom’s. I tasted and liked.Barb ordered the Herb Roasted Eggplant and added a nice piece of Salmon for a $12 supplement. She was very pleased with her dish.Lynn had a Chilean Seabass dish that tasted every bit as good as it looked.
Once again we were too full to order dessert. This restaurant had a delightful ambiance. Our server was charming and informative. The menu had plenty of additional dishes for me to check out on future trips. I’m looking forward to returning and advise you to check it out.

After reading I now have severe cravings of pork belly, meatballs, and carbonaro implanted in my brain. Being a Velveeta man of sorts Mike’s cheese and olive app had an opposite effect.
