Fireworks Buffet at the Jetsons (Sherri and Harold Tutellas)

Every year Longport, NJ shoots off a great fireworks show around Labor Day weekend. This year they did it a week early and told very few people. Good thing my friend Sherri found out. They do it from the beach right across the street from the Jetson’s home, so the Tutellas invite some friends for a casual buffet right before we go onto their porch to view the show. This year was very impressive. And the fireworks were fun as well.

Harold and I grilled up some veggies. Then Sherri and Barb turned them into a work of art.
Poached salmon with a dill cream sauce. Perfectly cooked.
This plate of seared sesame crusted Tuna was also perfectly cooked. That is: barely cooked. The wasabi sauce was a tasty complement.
Filet mignon. Say no more, except horseradish cream sauce.
This Caesar Salad added a little roughage to the meal.
This pretty salad looked nice, but just didn’t fit on my plate.
Someone brought this nice corn salad which I enjoyed the next morning.
Seriously: tortellini as well? I admit to having picked up a few with my fingers.
The dregs of a very nice cheese plate.
Sherri with her favorite child: Chloe.
4 Fressers. Sharon, on the left, had to close her eyes as everybody was ripping apart her home made Key Lime pie.
Somebody had the good sense to bring this amazing Blueberry pie, world famous, from Steve and Cookies.
Sharon’s Key Lime pie. I snuck a small slice. Yum!
This fruit plate magically appeared to supplement the dessert choices.
And how can you have a buffet without a plethora of cookies and additional small goodies.

This whole buffet served around 26 people. It was barely enough, but we made due.

My friends, the Tutellas, are amazing hosts, great friends, people I have been blessed to know and hang with.

I’m looking forward to next year’s party when I’m hoping they’ll serve some fois gras and caviar.
