Summertime Cocktails and Drinks

Sing along with me:

“Summertime….and the living is easy.” At least after 5 o’clock. Lots of options.

Here’s a simple suggestion:

Campari and soda, with or without vodka. Always a slice of orange.

Or maybe a Negroni: looks very similar, but has equal parts of Campari, Sweet Vermouth and gin. My friend, Art, has taught me to embellish it with a splash of Amaro.

And then there’s summertime wines. No need to spend an arm and a leg.

Rose’ all day. Light, medium dry, clean on the palate. This puppy is a second label or growth from Ott in Provence. I got it for $20.99 at Bottle King. It’s a great chain all over New Jersey . Huge inventory and every price point. I saw some Rose’s there the other day for as little as $9.
They are also featuring wines from Butterfly Fields. This Chardonnay was simply delicious. A little butter but very little oak. $11.99

This Sauvignon Blanc was dry, not too tart. No grapefruit. Typical California Sauvignon Blanc. Delicious. $11.99.

They also had a nice Pinot Noir. It matched well with a salmon dinner. Guess how much.

So it’s time to explore and discover lots of summertime wines and cocktails. And remember: “It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere.”
