Paella Mediterranean Fusion: A New Treat in East Naples

This past year they closed La Moraga in North Naples. The chef opened a new place in East Naples. It’s a small, intimate spot with very charming servers . The wine list is small, but well-chosen and reasonably priced. If you prefer BYOB, they have a $20 corkage fee. The menu offers a good number of authentic Spanish dishes. Most importantly, each dish is perfectly prepared and delicious.

There are a number of dishes labeled Tapas and Pinxhos and Starters. I’d recommend starting with any of these dishes.

The stuffed mushrooms are filled with chorizo, cheese and many good herbs. 3 or 4 mushrooms per serving. As with all Tapas and Pinxtos, perfect for sharing.
The Tortilla Espana is the best I’ve ever had. It’s a very light omelet with potatoes and onion. Served with a Brava sauce that has just a bit of spice.
The Andalusian Gazpacho is smooth with bits of veggies in the center. Refreshing and, again, delicious.
The Grilled Octopus is perfectly cooked and accompanied by thin sliced potatoes. Very traditional presentation.
The Ahi Tuna Sashimi is a very generous portion of lightly charred tuna in a ponzu sauce served with some wasabi and ginger. Everybody who tasted it in all four of our visits loved this dish.
Barb and I have twice shared the Catalan Seafood Stew. It’s not too much for one person, but perfect when you choose to share a good number of starters.
The Scottish Salmon is served over risotto and beautifully presented. Our daughter really enjoyed it. I was too stuffed to taste.
My family are all big fans of Brussels Sprouts. These were delicious with more than enough to share as a side dish.
It took me four visits to save room for the Flan. I’m a huge fan of this dessert and very happy I indulged. The burnt caramel topping was exquisite. Three stuffed dining partners tried to resist it, but ended up tasting the flan and agreed that it was terrific.

Paella’s Fusion is new and, as yet, relatively undiscovered. The food, service and ambiance are outstanding. I strongly recommend that you give it a try while you can still get in. It will inevitably be an impossible reservation to procure. So “get now while the gettin’s good!” Get it?
