Broadmoor in Lambertville just keeps getting better!

Went to dinner last night with Marla and David, our daughter and son-in-law. We always want to treat them to a special dinner, so we took them to a very special restaurant.

We have been following the career of Alex Cormier for at least 30 years. We first discovered him in Philly at his first place, Alex on South and have enjoyed his cooking as he’s evolved into the Chef/Partner he is today. Along with Alex through most of his career has been his partner and the manager of Broadmoor, Donna Painter.
Our kids always get choice pickings from our cellar. Last night we brought a 2015 Rombauer Chardonnay and a 2011 Roth Pinot Noir.

We started our meal by sharing two Spinach Caesar salads. Perfectly dressed and delicious. Salads are plenty big to share.

I loved the Duck Breast served with Asparagus and Whipped Poratoes. The accompanying sauce was outadisworld.
Barb and Marla both ordered the special Swordfish which was brought through the front door as we were sitting down. Doesn’t get any fresher than that without catching it yourself.
David ordered another special: NY Strip Steak. Prepared to a perfect medium rare.
We chose to share one dessert, because the kids had to get home to their kids. We enjoyed a rich, dense Brownie with Ice Cream. A perfect ending to a truly great meal.

Over the years, we have learned that Alex is a fan and great preparer of Fois Gras. When I’m yearning for some freshly sautéed duck liver with a yummy sauce, I call several days in advance and they can usually accommodate my request. Also, he’s done lots of Italian cooking, so his pasta dishes are always first rate.
If you get a chance, make a reservation at Broadmoor and be sure to bring a good bottle of wine (or two). Tell Donna that Josh sent you.

  1. I love Broadmoor for its well prepared food, byob, and you don’t walk out hungry. We just do not have this type of restaurant in the Sarasota area. Every dish looked so good.

  2. Oh yes. Broadmoor is one of the best in the area. Dinner offerings are the best, the atmosphere is cozy and romantic and,of course Alex and Donna, are wonderful at their business and make you feel at home. We always see donna up front, and always make it a point to go back to visit Alex before and after our dinner. Peter Kundra
