Common Lot in Millburn, NJ

Barb and I went to Common Lot about 5 years ago with our daughter and son-in-law. We had a wonder meal which I wrote up in my old blog (JoshEatsanddrinks.blogspot.com). We returned the other night and had an equally delicious meal. We knew that the restaurant warranted excellent wines, so I went a little deep into my stash. We couldn’t finish 2 bottles ourselves, but our kids are always happy to help.

Sashimi of the day: outrageous Tuna with sliced Pluats, Tamari, herbs and black sesame seeds. An absolute treat.
Roasted Japanese Egggplant. Another winner. With great sauce and baby Cilantro garnish.
Eggplant dish included Naan.
When you need a white wine to accompany a meal, you can never go wrong with a white Chateauneuf du Pape

Wines by Orin Swift are usually exciting and tasty as hell. The older the better.
Short ribs dish came with Morrocan flavors: Harissa, cucumber , yogurt and zucchini. Tender and delicious.
Plancha seared Branzino was topped with Ricotta and Tapenade. Amazing.
The Pavlova dessert had Coconut Creme, mango, lychee salsa and coriander.

Our server was very pleasant. He tried hard to keep us happy. When he wasnt sure about an ingredient he went and got us a quick answer. The manager was also kind and informative. The open kitchen appeared immaculate and the chefs all seemed cool and in control.

I recommend this restaurant highly.
