Little Bar in Goodland, Florida

We finally got back to Little Bar last night. Its the favorite casual place of all our family and friends. They have music in the bar every weekend and most nights in season. They have a full bar, a well-selected wine list and very tasty food. The service is always pleasant, never rushed and only slow on occasion in high season. The ambiance is casual, mellow, party, happy-to-be-here, welcoming, lots of families, lots of friends …. I could go on, but I’m sure you get it.

Last night we went wih some very sweet friends, Dave and Nancy. They are the most adventurous people we dine with down here. So the more exotic the place, the more likely you are to see them in my postings.

Nancy started with Conch Fritters. They had plenty of chunks of conch in them. We all really liked them.
I started with Conch Chowder. They served it with a little bit of Sherry to enhance the flavor. I liked it a lot.
Dave’s starter was a bowl of Black Bean Soup. it was thick and rich, tasty and filling.
We were all served a very fresh house salad that came with the meal. I loved the Bleu Cheese dressing and Barb got the house creamy garlic on the side.
The very reasonable $10 corkage fee makes it most likely that I’ll bring one of my favorite wines to enjoy with my meal.
This Pinot Noir is currently available at Costco for $33. When you run a ”Vivino” on it, it seems to list for $65. I’m going to get a bunch next week because we love it.
Barb ordered the Snapper with Lemon and Capers. They offer a few other sauces, but this is her favorite.
Nancy had the Prime Rib which was prepared to a perfect medium rare. It came with a baked potato, also perfectly cooked.
Dave ordered the night’s special, a Blackened Amberjack. He had it with Rice Pilaf as a side. The sauce, he said, was very tasty.
I’m a sucker for Soft Shell Crabs. They offer them fried or sautéed . I ordered them sauteed with the garlic butter. I always order them light on the garlic.
Dave ordered a slice of Peanut Butter Pie for us all to share. All of their desserts are brilliant. When we bring our grandson, Jonah, we are required to order two slices of this pie for him so that he can have a slice the next day. I am partial to their Key Lime Pie.
We stopped on the way out for a “photo-op”.

Little Bar has been around for many years and is now managed by Jamie, the second generation daughter, who is the most delightful restauranteur in all of Marco Island. During this Covid crisis she has been thoughtful and caring for both her staff and customers. And she has maintained a high level of quality throughout. It’s no wonder that this great place is year after year on everyone’s list of ”go-to” places on Marco Island.
