Connor’s Steak and Seafood in the Gulf Coast Shopping Center…Where Naples Meets Venice (Florida, that is.)

For the last three years we have been meeting our friends Bobby and Debbie for dinner at this restaurant. Gourmet? Certainly not. Clubby and steak house-ish? Very much so. The service is always on point. Food is very good. Meat is choice, not prime. We let them know that we’ve all shlepped an hour just to get together and chosen their restaurant as our ideal place to meet. They never rush us out, so we stay for a three hour visit. We sit in the same booth every time. I’ve just learned that Bobby has asked for the table number and requests it on every visit. (#13) Cocktails are fairly priced and well made. They have a very fair corkage fee of $15.

Bobby and Debbie have been our friends forever. When we get together, our main goal is to EAT good food. This night we started with a few appetizers in order to lengthen our visit. Of course I forgot to photograph the calamari, Fried Green Tomatoes and Oysters. The oysters were small, but very fresh. The fried green tomatoes were superb. The Calamari were acceptable.
For a fourth appetizer Bobby ordered French Fries. I’m not sure why, but it’s not my place to question his choices. Right!
When you order an entree, you get to add on a wedge with all the goodies for a buck. That is some good deal!
Supplemental house salads are $6 extra, nicely composed and very fresh.
The Tuna Stack is a dish that Debbie always orders for herself, but ends up sharing with the whole table.
My Stoli Elite Martini was super dry, up, with rocks on the side. No vermouth, a nice twist of lemon to garnish. The perfect starter for me.
The bread is fresh, soft inside and crusty. Served with soft butter with herbs.
Debbie and I both love home made Mac and Cheese. This bowl fell into our top classification of ”world’s most perfect food.”
Barb ordered Baked Halibut with broccoli and Brussel Sprouts. She loved the Brussel sprouts as much as her fish. A very nice entree.
Bobby’s pork Ribeye was tasty as hell. Even more Mac and cheese for me to dig into. A fruit chutney and brussel sprouts completed a very delicious entree.
My 18 Oz Delmonico Rib steak was black and blue, just as I ordered it. Boursin creamed spinach completed my favorite steakhouse selection.
What compliments a meaty meal better than a wonderful cab. This is one of my all time favorites.
I had bought this little beauty after our last meal at Bleu Provence in Naples. White Cotes du Rhône are my current favorite wines to accompany fish.

Dessert? Who had room? Leftovers? Nicely bagged and enjoyed the next night with no need for extra food.

Our bill for the entire 3 hours of debaucherie was $315. Several cocktails, 2 bottles of wine (which we brought), 3 tons of food. I consider Connor’s a second tier steakhouse, way better than Outback or other comparable chains. Best of all is it’s perfect location to meet my friends who live two hours away.

Even if you are a local, I’d recommend you visit this place with friends for a night of great camaraderie, very pleasant and unrushed service and quite tasty food. Save room for dessert and send me a report.

  1. Debbie considers the “most perfect foood” not to be mac and cheese as we do but French fries which she ordered.
