Return to Cafe Normandie in Naples

We returned to Cafe Normandie last night with our friends, Sol and Carin. They are always game for checking out food that’s imaginative and different from the common meat and potatoes.

Sol and I shared a Sweetbread entree for our appetizer. It was accompanied by some very delicious Potatoes au Gratin that were creamy and buttery and out of sight. The Sweetbreads are a good sized portion of large pieces. Served with a wonderful mushroom sauce.
Barb and Carin split a Salad with Hearts of Palm which was easily shareable. It delighted them both.
I enjoyed my half duck, crispy, as I like it and served with the yummy Potatoes au Gratin. I can’t get enough of them.
Sol’s Rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly for him. It also included the same potatoes which thrilled me to death because I was able to take them home and enjoy them for lunch today, along with my leftover duck.
Carin had the Bronzino beautifully prepared and served with rice and some veggies. What? No potatoes au gratin? She was more than happy with her dish and side of rice.
Barb has ordered the Frog’s Legs the last three times we’ve dined at Normandie. She says they’re the best she’s had anywhere. High praise considering the source.
The Tart Tatin at Normandie is something you should not miss. It’s served with Vanilla ice cream and whipped cream and it is reminiscent of the Tarts I came to love in Brittany and Normandie.

I truly love French food and have been lucky enough to find two really great places here in Naples. I recommend this down-home family run restaurant. You’re sure to love it.

  2. Josh thank you for your review and recommendation of Cafe Normandie. Jacques and I have dined there twice and the dinners were outstanding along with the wine list! Our four friends want to return for dinner very soon.
