USS Nemo in North Naples

USS Nemo has been around for a long time serving excellent food, mostly fish and seafood. Before COVID it was an impossible reservation to get. The tables were crowded in and you were privy to the conversations and secrets of your neighboring diners. Nonetheless, the food was so outstanding that you didn’t mind forfeiting a little privacy in return for a super dining experience.
With COVID no longer closing down restaurants, there is a return to dining out. USS Nemo has maintained its superb status as a top table in the Naples area. The tables seem less packed and reservations remain a real coup to cop.

They start you out with very fresh bread and a plate of mixed condiments. This plate had some very delicious hummus along with seaweed salad and pickled veggies. Charming.
Barb ordered a small hot sake and I ordered a glass of some yummy Greek white wine.
For an appetizer I ordered some pork belly which was served with warm veggies and an outstanding sauce. It was one of my top pork belly dishes to date.
Barb ordered the Steamed Snapper with Asian Vegetables. Very nice presentation.

My entree was Poke with a great sauce and Onion Rings. It also had some crisp veggies accompanying the fish.
The steamed rice was served on the side and a nice complement.
I ordered a glass of Rose to go with dessert.
The dessert I ordered was a Bread Pudding laced with caramel and topped with homemade ice cream.

So dining out is back and USS Nemo is at the top of everybody’s wishlist. If you can’t get a table, keep your party small and go for a reservation at the bar. They have 8 or 10 seats and a charming bartender named Peter. He keeps a close eye on the customers and has plenty of choice wines by the bottle and glass. I feel it’s worth the effort to get a reservation here.
