Eno Terra in Kingston, NJ, next to Princeton

To celebrate our fourtieth anniversary, Barb and I went to dinner at Eno Terra with our friends, Art and Lyn. We had been there once before and enjoyed our meal, just took no pictures so I didn’t post it on the blog. This time around I was prepared and only forgot one picture during the meal.

This is not a byob restaurant. They have an active bar and a pretty comprehensive wine list. They also had a lovely sommelier named Claudia. She was very knowledgeable and honest in discussing the wine options. She guided us to a bottle that was well within the the price range we chose and was a very good value. It was also very delicious and complemented all of our dining choices. Poifect!

This is the menu at Eno Terra. It’s a Farm-to-Table, Mediterranean restaurant with options that should please any palate and fulfill any dietary needs or limitations.
They start you out with some very fresh, crisp bread and a tasty herb-filled dipping oil.
This is Claudia, a most charming and knowledgeable Sommelier.
And this is the wine we chose with her help.
One of the appetizers that we chose was the mussels with a deeply flavorful sauce and some sausage. We also had a bowl of Shishito peppers fried with a spicy paprika coating. Normally 10% of these will be spicy. These shishitos were attleast 50% spicy. It was a very tasty app which, I simply forgot to photograph.
Art’s Sausage Ragu was served on Penne and included spring onions, red pepper and a garlic marscapone sauce. He really enjoyed it and kindly gave me a taste which I found to be perfect. In my opinion, Ragus are the true test of a great Italian gravy. This one passed the test with flying colors!
Lyn’s Roasted Salmon was beautifully accompanied by coconut black risotto, roasted red pepper, grilled zucchini and tomato jam. Exquisitely prepared and delicious.
WAIT!! What happened to Barb’s Pastaless Vegetable Lasagna? Someone must have eaten it before I had a chance to get my photo. Well, I can still report that it was a huge success and very, very good. I’ll replace this photo when we return to Eno Terra.
As I may have mentioned in the past, I’m a huge fan of Ricotta Gnocci. This one was put together with garlic purée, onions, mushrooms, peas and white wine. Delightful!
For dessert we all shared a Bread Pudding with Vanilla ice cream and a lovely acknowledgment of our 40 years together. I had a bit of Calvados to add to the celebration.

Eno Terra is a great restaurant right in our neighborhood. They have valet parking. They have very friendly servers and a laid back, comfortable ambiance. The bar serves very nice drinks at reasonable prices. The cuisine is delicious. The wine list could include some less pricey options, but that’s just me, a guy who loves byob. All in all, I’d advise anyone in the area to check it out. You’re guaranteed to enjoy your experience.

  1. Another well written review from the food and wine expert. I like the way the gnocchi and bread pudding were presented. There did not look like there were many mussels.
