LiLLiPiES Bakery in Princeton Shopping Center

I often go out for breakfast with my buddy, Vince. We tend to hit the same places over and over because they are good and predictable. Sometimes we decide to change things up and search out a new spot to check out. Last week we found LiLLiPiES online and gave it a shot. Their menu offered breakfast sandwiches on English muffins as well as some pancake choices. You’ve gotta be a little adventurous in life. Especially in culinary adventures.

We both ordered the bacon, egg and cheese samich on an English muffin. We took our food outside and sat at a little table for our Al fresco experience. My muffin was loaded with lots of seeds. Vince’s was, I believe, whole wheat or plain. The eggs were perfectly done, over easy. The yolk dripped out the sides and engulfed the bacon and muffin in wonderful, drippy “googieness”. The coffee they served was very nice and quite good. An A plus for this breakfast.
After eating I decided to go inside and see what other offerings they had. The pastries, tarts and muffins all looked very appetizing.
The scones looked beautiful. Vince and I agreed that scones tend to be a little dry. We thought about it for about 5 seconds and then ordered one with peach filling. It was nicely moist and outstanding.

We resisted the buns and muffins, mainly because we were full and had eaten enough.
This bin of croissants looked irresistible. We were stuffed and couldn’t eat another thing. But…THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT!!! So we shared one last thing. So glad we did. Vince took one home for his wife to check out.
This delightful lady, Jen, may be the devil. She doesn’t actually make you do anything. She just gives you your options.

LiLLiPiES is my new favorite breakfast spot. I’m meeting Vince there tomorrow. I strongly suggest you check it out. No scrapple and no SOS. Just some scrumptious starters for your day. And remember to show greater discipline than me. You can always return.

I must make create a supplement to my post:

LiLLiPiES has this pastry that I have been enjoying which seems to be a Croissant on steroids. They use the basic croissant dough, add some sugar that caramelized while it bakes and may or may not include a little more butter. It is called Kouign amann. They were invented in Brittany, France, of course. I have only been able to purchase them in the mornings because I’m sure a few other people have discovered these beauties. They also make something similar with the addition of fruit. This is a must have. Just sayin’.
