Rebecca’s in Naples, FL

Fairly often we learn of a new restaurant opening, get some favorable reports and simply go back to repeats and older reliable restaurants, forgetting about the new spot.

I’ve been buying wines from Rebecca for several years at her 360 Market on Bayshore Drive in Naples. Her deal has been that each bottle sells for $3.60 over her cost. She’s always had lots of good choices at excellent prices and has been kind enough to help me with my choices, even when she’s been busy as hell.

About a year or two ago Rebecca built a new home for her original 360 Wine shop across the street from the original. In that building she placed a cute little restaurant and in the back she started a private dining club. I’ve been to the wine shop several times, noted the restaurant and left with great wines, never having tried the restaurant. Her chef is an accomplished young man with quite an impressive pedigree and innovative menu options. I’ve heard good reports about the restaurant from golfing buddies. So why haven’t we tried it yet?

Doink.

Tony and Paulette, good friends, golfers and fellow food explorers proposed a visit to Rebecca’s last week. My brain went “Doink”.
The wine deal at Rebecca’s is simple. Choose a wine at $3.60 over her cost. Pay a $25 corkage. You will not be paying double, triple or quadruple the retail price. It’s a pretty good deal, especially with the pricier wines.
Our first bottle of wine was this delicious red blend by Orin Swift. Its name commemorates the 8 years he promised not to make a red blend when he sold his Prisoner Wine Company. When the 8 years were up he came out with this beauty.
The Charcuterie plate came in 3 sizes: 3, 5 or 7 items chosen from a list of 17 cheeses and 17 meats. We ordered a plate with 3 cheeses and 2 meats. They were all delicious.
True to form, I attacked the meatballs before being reminded that I needed a photo. There were 3 meatballs that an Italian grandmom would be proud of.
We ordered two salads. This was a Grilled Pear and Endive salad. Really good.
The Arugula Salad had apples, hazelnuts and a wonderful dressing. The four of us tasted and enjoyed both salads. Perfect portions for us all to share.
We decided to indulge in a second bottle, something white. This has been one of Paulette and Tony’s favorites, so we purchased it. Good decision!

I believe this was toasted sour dough bread which was perfect with every dish.

My main motivation when choosing to visit Rebecca’s was siting a Marrow Bone app. It’s been one of my favorite things to eat since I was a small child, a delight I seldom see on menus. I got to eat the whole dish all by myself. A nice portion for sharing tastes. Next time I’ll get two, maybe three. (Even though I’m sure this stuff goes right to your heart and calcifies. Just like fois gras.)

This whole roasted Cauliflower was beautifully presented and a real treat to enjoy guilt-free. Especially after having just eaten bone marrow.
The Octopus was a nice chunk of grilled seafood with very tasty accompaniments.

These Long stemmed artichokes were perfectly steamed and quite delicious. Another guilt-free addition to our meal.
We were well-satiated by the end of our meal. A single dessert completed our experience. This Chocolate Trifle was a super choice for dessert. All four of us were impressed and contented.

I’m glad that Rebecca Maddox has been indulging her entrepreneurial drive around Naples and especially in the Bayshore area. Rebecca’s restaurant is a great place to go eat and buy wines. I’m happy that I finally “doinked” and got there to eat.

  1. Another well written and entertaining review from the author of this blog. Great pictures to give me a good idea of what this restaurant has to offer. That being said I eat salads and roast cauliflower almost every day so not too appealing to me. The meatballs and bone marrow look good though. The dessert as well.
