Pho Today in Plainsboro, NJ

We went for Pho last month before heading to Florida for the winter. Naples has exactly zero Vietnamese restaurants.

When we feel like a nice Asian meal that’s not crazy fattening, fun to eat, not a long wait and predictably delish, we go for Pho. It’s a little high in sodium, but so is almost everything else that tastes good. It’s, of course, byob. Relatively inexpensive. Pleasant ambiance. Family oriented.

Barb loves the Summer rolls here. They are served beautifully. They can contain shrimp or just veggies. When Barb gets a Pho, we share this dish. Sometimes she makes a meal out of two rolls.
The peanut dipping sauce is always a great treat: a little sweet and slightly spicy.
When I have meals that have lots of herbs and spicy sauces added in, I drink big wines with higher alcohol content. They are usually Zinfandels, Shiraz, GSMs or big Cabs. Another option might be a semi-sweet to sweet white wine like semi-dry Riesling’s, German Spatleses or Gewurtztraminer.
Barbs vegetable Pho was loaded with vegetables and noodles. The broth had a surprising depth of flavor.
My Pho had all kinds of meat and an even greater depth of flavor . I added in a righteous amount of Sriracha sauce to give it a big kick.

Vietnamese food is filling, deeply flavorful and always a fun experience. The ambiance and environmental are always casual and friendly, completely unrushed. I’m looking forward to enjoying some when I return to New Jersey for Thanksgiving.
