We put together a last minute excursion to a Mexican restaurant we had only seen from the road. Paula and Scott had been there and wanted us to try it with them. We were joined by fellow poker players, Bob and Dean, with their wives, Michelleand Gladys.
Scott and Paula shared an order of Shrimp Fajitas. Plenty of food for two with a choice of flour or corn tortillas. Also served with refried beans, rice and lettuce on the side. They really liked it.This was a sizeable side of the rice and beans.Bob and Michelle shared an order of Chicken Fajitas. They enjoyed it and walked out happy and stuffed.Dean ordered some tacos that he enjoyed. They had several varieties which could be mixed and matched.Gladys ordered a simple grilled chicken dish which she seemed to enjoy, being allergic to several spices. She wasa real trooper for coming to dinner at a place that may have served the wrong allergens. Barb ordered the Mexican Style Ceviche which she truly loved. She found it very fresh, tasty and plentiful.I ordered the Mole Chicken which was intensely flavored with a bit of hot pepper, less than subtle chocolate and other spices. It was a very authentic Mexican Mole dish that I really enjoyed. This Flan dessert was creamy and soothing. The original portion was 50% larger. The Fried Ice Cream dessert was huge and happily shared by all 8 of us. This is Helian who took wonderful care of us with great advise, suggestions, translations and service. He’s a most affable and friendly man.
As usual, there were a couple of dishes that came out and consumed before I remembered to take pix. They bear mentioning because they were so delicious and were shared by all.
This Salsa or Pico de Gallo was a true pleasure. It came out with plenty of chips to use for scooping. The Melted Cheese appetizer was creamy and delicious as well as large. Had I been by myself or alone with Barb we’d have added some of their hot green sauce
I don’t know how I’ve missed this very nice restaurant until now. They have a full bar, unimpressive wine list, and very reasonable $10 corkage fee. I brought a Kirkland Zinfandel which paired perfectly with the sometimes spicy dishes.
The ambiance is pleasant and not too loud. The clientele is mostly Hispanic, reinforcing the authenticity of the restaurant.
